Dr. B. Viswanathan is Professor & Head, National Centre for Catalysis Research, Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, INDIA.


He did his PhD at the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai in 1969 and Masters Degree at the St. Joseph’s College, Madras University in 1964.

  • Indian Patent filed on Carbon nano tube based electrodes for Fuel cells pending application serial number 384/MAS/2001.
  • A process for the homogeneous oxidation of alkyl benzenes catalyzed by heteropoly acids 1090/MAS/1999.
  • A process for the preparation of dielectric resonators for microwave applications granted to R & D Ministry of Defence, No.185377 dated 29.9.1993.
  • Electroless deposition of copper on PTFE articles granted to R & D Ministry of defence No.185263 dated 24.02.1992.
